She tolerated the initial therapy well and was upbeat, had most if not all of the weight preserved on her frame despite the unremitting nausea, vomiting and chronic fatigue from the poisons and radiation that tore through her body like an avalanche. You can see her here with her signature toothy smile, she had the biggest smile of anyone I have ever met. And she loved babies, and loved being a godmother but in the end, she loved children and adolescents more as they grew into a world of complexity and hormonal chaos. She saw it as her mission to understand her children in order to guide them into adulthood. God knows how much of a positive influence she would be now if she were still here with us to coach Leila and David, and to force the wisdom of her sometimes self righteous demeanor, that only a a mother and grandmother can impart, to her children and grandchildren.
