A Personal Note: THE FIRST DRAFT

The most fun in creating any written account to be published is always the first draft.  You can let your imagination run wild.  You can say things that you would not want out in public.  You can be honest with yourself.  You can be longwinded and boring or rant and rave.  You can analyze or paralyze; you can thesaurus-ize.  But when it’s all said and done, you have to sterilize.

Unlike private letters or the perverse thoughts that we have lurching in our dysfunctional and fractured minds, what we write in these blogs is for all to see, and we need to be aware that we cannot control the interpretation of our audience.

The previous two entries show two versions of my composition on the San Jose dance competition.  They are not that disparate; the most recent one reads better and is shortened to keep the attention of the reader while the original one really reflects more of what I wanted to convey but is too long (like this sentence) and really boring to anyone but myself.   This serves as an example of the transition to a more readable composition.

Of course, I have many more examples of the sterilization process from my previous writings.  But I feel a little awkward in importing any prior writings into this new blog to demonstrate this, although I may consider it if my mind sinks into a mental abyss and I have little or no inspiration for creating any new entries in the next couple of weeks.

Still, it is truly an exciting adventure to free your mind and allow your fingers a direct and unfiltered and unfettered connection to your brain to express your true feelings as when you create the first draft of any composition….maybe as time passes, I will be brave or drunk enough or willing to take risks and publish some of these.  For the moment, my contributions will remain sterilized and reasonably PC, which means that my potential readers will likely represent a very small number of family and friends.
