Memoirs of a Geisha

This is video clip of my recent performance at the 2012 Divino Ritmo Showcase.  The video was taken by a guest that I invited who apparently didn't know he was not permitted to take videos. In any case, his sin was well intended and so I decided to post it for any and all to see.  Warning: the quality of the video clip is such that it speeds up the music and dancing just a tad which distorts the performance somewhat.

You will see minor errors but in all, I am happy with this performance.  As much as I try to be fluid and stretch during poses, the outward expression of my movements still leave a lot to be desired, but such is life.  Also, you can see the little hiccups here and there; even the slightest awkward movement is translated into major movement flaws.

This is my 5th solo performance in the last 3 years.  Most of the time, I get bored performing them after the first two times.  I love the music and the choreography so much in this solo that I continue to listen to it, as well as attempt to improve my performance.

This showcase itself was the best one so far, held once again at the Sheraton Waikiki Hotel on Dec 1st, was running on a very tight schedule with over 20 student performances, and a professional show which included Yanna and Lucas and professional couple Adrei and Asta from New York which was simply outstanding. All of the moving parts made my head spin, even if my head wasn't spinning after my dance performance.

I have to congratulate both Yanna and Lucas for all the hard work involved, plus they had to dance so many times with so many students and then dance together in the professional show as well.  So whatever students who performed were thinking about their performance and the evening activity, I think we were all more than impressed by the overall undertaking, the student and professional dances, the dinner, the lighting effects during the dance performances, the coordination of the music, the intro video clip highlighting the year's activity, the prepared video clips that preceded each student performance, the showcase favors, the flowers, the showcase set which in large part was crafted brilliantly by Paul Laderta, etc, etc.  It was a huge HUGE undertaking and it was done very well, very well indeed!
