Heritage Classic 2013 - Day 1

Marie, ME, Yanna, and Edward on Day 1
A rewarding first day at the competition. I must admit that it wasn't easy performing solos at 8ish at night and then having to compete for a 3-dance championship in Rhythm around 10:30pm after the long flight, the fitful sleeping, and the time disorientation - all mixed with the nervous energy of the competition hoopla. But we had something to show for our efforts as demonstrated here - these trophies are for our solo performances. We were happy to have Divino Ritmo capture two of the few that were awarded. Rhythm performances were not bad, considering everything. Marie did particularly well coming in third overall starting from a semi-final round. Truthfully, she was robbed of a higher place, in my opinion, unbiased as my eyes could determine. While Edward avoided any extra rhythm single dances on this first night, his performance in the solo showed personality and precision, an improvement from his previous rendition last December at the Divino Ritmo Showcase. We all returned to our rooms exhilarated but needing to wind down in order to catch a few z's before the next day, which promised more rhythm dances. Stay tuned.
