Hawaii Star Ball 2012 - Part 4

One moment in time!  I usually hate looking at my dance pictures.  No smile or appearing worried or even miserable, head leaning forward, looking down, shoulders hunched, frame jello, arching back or back weighted, the appearance of looking stationary, etc, etc.

But I have worked hard to correct as many of these defects as I can possibly correct.  Its been no easy task.  Correct one and another appears, correct the next and the previous one reappears...... exasperating!   But I'm not alone; many of the older geriatrics crowd dancers look constipated on the dance floor as well.

But, my God, there is a God!  Finally a picture that doesn't look like the old ME.  And with my dance partner Emi who looks stunning. So after this picture, I think I'll retire from dance.  Don't think I can do much better than this.  But, clearly this was just ONE MOMENT.  To be sure, I also have been encouraged by other recent pictures posted on this blog from the Embassy competition dancing with Yanna,  that have been just as encouraging, although none of them were during International Standard.

In any case, I credit whatever I have accomplished in dance to my dance teacher, Yanna Samkova.  As I've said to her many time, I wouldn't want to be my own student.  How she can be patient enough to deal kindly with me and come up with some innovative strategies to correct defects that seem to defy any logic, order or laws of physics and gravity, I will never know.

Ah, at least for this moment in time, I am a happy man.  I don't want to die, but if I do, I will die happy.
